Service Description: A layer that was originally created from the New Zealand River Environment Classification (REC2 network) by dissolving local watersheds that comprised the major rivers of New Zealand. The catchments were processed up upstream tracing from the most downstream segment in the REC2 network.

the REC was originally created using a hydrological networking tools and a digital elevation model.
