Using multibeam echosounders, it is possible to survey expansive regions of the seafloor with increasing degrees of detail. These data present a processed bathymetric elevation model 50 cm resolution) of the region surveyed during hydrographic survey HS52 - Approaches to Auckland.Survey HS52 was undertaken by Discovery Marine Limited (DML) on behalf of Land Information New Zealand (LINZ) for hydrographic charting purposes. This grid has been subsequently reprocessed by Taihoro Nukurangi - NIWA to undertake BTM analysis and to remove shoal-biasing artifacts. Shoal-biased processing required for hydrographic charting purposes, however, these features may not be indicative of true seabed geomorphology and may impact subsequent geoprocessing. |
